Raleigh had some great weather this past weekend! Saturday we took the kids on a walk to the park and let them re-visit their old friends, the swings. Sunday, Mimi & Grandpa baby-sat while Eric & I had a lunch day at Cameron Village, some shopping (for me - - yay), followed by us hitting some golf balls at the driving range (for him)! Clearly, everyone was happy! It was SO SO SO nice for Eric & I to get out for a few hours without the kids.
Enjoying the swings!

Mr Meurice
Our # 1 blog reader, Daniel Kaman, has requested an update on big brother Meurice. Now, I too agree, that many others would like to know what exactly he has been up to. Meurice used to love to lay down next to the babies when they were real little. But now that they can crawl (toward him specifically) he pretty much dodges them. They crawl in a room, he walks to another. Unless of course a meal has just been completed, then he gets as close as he can to get some sweet leftover kisses. Meurice, just wait until they can walk. . .

NAWlins kind of weekend . . .
Two weeks ago I guess you could say we celebrated New Orleans the WHOLE weekend. On Saturday we went to a Mardi Gras party at Matt & Katie's house. While Carson and Dean didn't savor any gumbo, they did wear some beads. It was so nice to spend time with our friends and their kids. Then there was Superbowl Sunday. Although we were rooting on the Colts, we watched the New Orleans Saints bring home a victory at our neighbors Superbowl party! Eric and I carted the kids around in the bjorns so we were hands free to grab a quick bite and a beer. (sidenote, Eric & I (really me) won squares two quarter in a row. Nothing like winning a few bucks off your neighbors)!!

* Carson, Dean, and Jacob * (where are Carson and Dean's beads)?????

"MOM-preneur"
Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704254604574614052425441542.html
This article is about several moms who have started very successful baby food businesses. These are all mothers, who were presented with an unmet need with their own children, saw a vision, and made it happen!
It is very inspiring and motivating to me. I've only been out of work and home with C & D since January 1, but I am already in full-swing into a brand new project. On my own! I have been working on this since November and am ironing out the fine details before the launch of my website and the introduction of my new product. I am excited to be doing something that I have always to do . . . BE MY OWN boss! Eric has been incredibly helpful and supportive. I could not have come this far without him. Just a few more loose strings to tie and we'll be ready.
I can't wait to unveil my secret to you all!!!!
So, please STAY TUNED!!!!

Dear Eric, THANK YOU!!!
As I mentioned in a previous post, Eric & I celebrated our 3 year anniversary January 14th. With my parents being in town, Eric planned a wonderful night away. Carson and Dean had a slumber party at home with Nonna & T-Pop while Eric surprised me with a night away at The Umstead Hotel & Spa. It was wonderful! We enjoyed the spa, dinner at the bar watching the snow come down and even slept in a little Saturday morning. Thank you Eric for a great surprise AND a big thank you for Nonna & T-Pop for watching Carson and Dean.
NY Times Article

Interesting article around PTSD for parents who've had a child in the NICU. Our friend Emily & Jason also experienced having a child in the NICU following their birth. While our stories are different, we both relate the birth of our children to the additional time each of them spent in the NICU. Eric & I definitely did not experience anything as serious as this article states - - thankfully - - but we certainly have a complete understanding of it. For the rest of my life, I will never get the sound of those heart monitors out of my head. They would "DING" every 30 seconds those first few days Carson and Dean were in there. I used to lay in bed at night still hearing the ring in my head. Thanks Emily for posting to your blog, I was happy to read. Also, a good reminder that the annual March of Dimes Walk is coming in April to a city near you. If you are in Raleigh and interested in walking, Eric and I are going to be putting a team together. The date is Saturday April 24th.
